Privacy Policy
1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Scoremaxed ("Scoremaxed," "we," "us") collects, uses and shares information when you visit scoremaxed.com or use our credit report scan and dispute service. By using our service, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us when you start a scan
- Your first and last name
- Your email address
- The credit monitoring provider you choose, the username and password for that monitoring account, and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number
- Your phone number, if you give it to us
- A record of when you authorized the scan, stored together with the version of the authorization wording you were shown
Information you give us if we find a violation and you choose to dispute
Preparing a dispute letter requires more than the scan does. At that point we collect:
- Your mailing address and date of birth
- A photo of your government-issued ID
- A document proving your current address
- Your signature
- Your answers to follow-up questions we ask about specific accounts, which you type in yourself
Information from your credit monitoring provider
With your authorization, we access your credit report through your monitoring account. The report can include your accounts, balances, payment history, inquiries and public records, along with the names, addresses and employers the bureaus have on file for you. We keep a copy of the report as it stood when we scanned it, because a dispute is judged against what was being reported at the time.
Information from companies and partners
If you signed up through a link from a company that manages credit clients, that company gave us your details and remains connected to your file. If a referral partner or affiliate referred you, they may share your contact details and the fact that you were referred.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our pages, we and our service providers may collect your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed and how you arrived. When you sign up we also record your screen size, time zone and an estimate of your connection quality alongside the signup, to help us diagnose problems and detect fraud. Some of this is collected with cookies and similar tools. Where we record a referral link click, we store a hashed version of your IP address rather than the address itself.
3. How we use information
We use your information to run your credit report scan and share the results with you, to ask you follow-up questions where an account needs clarifying, and to contact you about your scan. If a violation is found and you sign our agreement, we use it to prepare, mail and track disputes on your behalf, and to pass the file to an attorney if the dispute is not resolved. We also use it to provide support, to keep our service secure, to prevent fraud, to meet legal obligations and to improve the service.
4. Credit reports and your score
We only access your credit report because you authorize it. Checking your own credit through monitoring is a soft inquiry. It won't hurt your score.
5. How your report is analysed
Your report is first checked by our own rules, which compare what each bureau reports about the same account and apply the reporting time limits set by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The findings from that check, together with any answers you have given us, are then reviewed by an artificial intelligence model to help describe and prioritise them. The model receives account-level information — creditors, balances, dates, statuses and the differences between bureaus — and your answers. It does not receive your Social Security number, and personal details such as the names and addresses on file are reduced to counts before it sees them.
The results are shown to you either way. Nothing is disputed on your behalf until you sign our agreement.
6. How we share information
Credit monitoring providers
We share information with the credit monitoring provider you choose, so they can enrol you and give us access to your report.
The company you signed up through
If you reached us through a company's signup link or were added by a company that manages your file, that company can see your scan results and the disputes raised for you, and can act on your file on your behalf. They may also receive this information through our developer interfaces, which exist so a company can track its own clients.
The credit bureaus
A dispute letter is addressed to Equifax, Experian or TransUnion and is sent over your signature. The letter identifies you by name, mailing address, date of birth and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number, and encloses copies of your government-issued ID and your proof of address, because the bureaus require them to process a dispute.
Our mailing provider
We use a third-party mailing service to print and post dispute letters. It receives the letter and its enclosures in order to mail them.
Attorneys
If a dispute is not resolved within the statutory window, your case can be made available to licensed attorneys so that one can take it on. An attorney we assign to your case receives a case file containing the dispute letter as mailed, your government-issued ID, your proof of address, your signature, a case summary and your contact details, so they can advise you and act for you. Attorneys who have not been assigned your case do not receive these documents.
Service providers
We share information with service providers that help us run the service — including software, hosting, email, payment processing and artificial intelligence providers — who may use it only to work for us.
Referral partners, legal requirements and business transfers
We share information with referral partners and affiliates connected to your referral, including the fact that your signup converted, so they can be credited. We share information with government agencies, courts and others when the law requires it or to protect rights, safety and security. We may also share it with a buyer or successor if we are involved in a merger, sale or similar transaction.
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information. Your monitoring username and password and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number are encrypted before they are stored, and your identity documents are held in restricted storage, reachable only through your own account, the company managing your file, an attorney assigned to your case, or authorized members of our staff — and staff access to those documents is recorded. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The password you give us for your monitoring account also becomes your Scoremaxed password when your account is created this way. We recommend changing your Scoremaxed password after you sign in for the first time.
8. How long we keep information
We keep your credit report snapshots, dispute letters and the documents enclosed with them for as long as they may be needed as evidence of a dispute, to meet legal requirements and to resolve claims. Your monitoring credentials are kept while your connection to that provider is active, so we can re-check your report.
Operational records expire on their own: activity and sign-in records after 90 days, notifications after 180 days, device and browser logs after 400 days, and referral link clicks that never led to a signup after 180 days.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, and you can opt out of marketing emails using the link in any email. Residents of some states, including California, have additional rights over their personal information. To make a request, contact us at privacy@scoremaxed.com, and we will respond within the time the law requires. Some information connected to a dispute already sent to a bureau or an attorney may need to be retained even after a deletion request, where the law allows or requires it.
To stop credit monitoring billing, cancel your monitoring as described in our Terms of Service.
10. Cookies, analytics and advertising
We and our service providers use cookies and similar tools to make our pages work, to remember which partner referred you and to understand how our pages are used. We may also use advertising measurement tools from platforms such as Meta, Reddit and TikTok, which tell those platforms that a visit or signup happened. Where required, we ask for your consent first, and you can change your browser settings to limit cookies.
For detail, see our Cookie Policy and Cookie Vendor List.
11. Children
Our service is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
